Hot Springs, Ark. — National Park College (NPC) celebrated a major step forward for our community on Sept. 24 with the groundbreaking of a new 16,000-square-foot welding facility. This investment not only strengthens NPC’s technical programs but also supports the future workforce needs of Garland County and beyond.

The groundbreaking brought together college leaders, trustees, local officials, industry partners, faculty, and students—all united in support of advancing opportunities for skilled trades. NPC students shared how welding has transformed their lives, while college leadership emphasized the facility’s lasting impact on both students and employers.

The new facility will include 8,000 square feet of welding lab space, 2,500 square feet of covered outdoor welding space, modern classrooms, and updated equipment designed to give students real-world experience. Once complete, it will serve as a hub of innovation, learning, and opportunity—ensuring students are prepared for in-demand careers while keeping local industries strong.
